What inspired the Hymn Cards....

My husband is a hummer. A singer. A noisemaker. Let him hear one line of a song and he will be singing/humming it for the rest of the day.

When he would come and visit before we were married it would drive my mom CRAZY.

But then….I mentioned it to HIS mom (let’s be honest, parents have more patience for their own kids!) and she told me this: “He hums when he’s happy”. I passed that on to my mom and she has never “complained” about it again. Don’t get me wrong, it can still drive her up the wall years and years later, but it comes from a good place 😊 A place you can’t get upset over.

So yesterday I tried an experiment, just for fun. I sat down at the piano and picked 8, well known hymns. He was in the kitchen making dinner. I played through the hymn 2-3 times and then sat and waited. Low and behold, he continued on after I had stopped playing, humming that same hymn. So, I would then move on to the next. And again, he would continue humming that next hymn. 7 out of 8 times this happened. Just flipping from hymn to hymn. I went in and let him know what I was doing, and he laughed and said, “I didn’t even know I was doing that!”.

A few months back when I showed him the first draft of the hymn cards, he did exactly what I wanted. Exactly what was mentioned above. Exactly what we want the hymn cards to do for you. He started humming the rest of the song/hymn from the few words he read on the card.

Our hymn cards are aimed to get into your head, your heart and to remind you of God’s promises and His love for you. If you happen to read the card and then are finishing it in your head (or out loud!) then it has done its job 😊 Even better is to share that card with a message to a friend! They are perfect for greeting cards just to say “Hello” or “I’m thinking of you”. Pop one upright on your desk for a morning devotional meditation😊
